Programs Offered for Full Time Diploma Courses
Introduction
The Directorate of Technical Education is the monitoring and controlling body for the admissions to Diploma and Degree courses in Karnataka. As regards to the admissions to the degree program a separate Cell has been set up by the Govt. of Karnataka to take up this gigantic task. All the latest information about admissions to Engineering degree programs are available in the website of Karnataka Examination Authority.
Admissions to Diploma Program
The common admission to 1st year Diploma for Government / Aided Polytechnics and for private polytechnics who have surrendred their seats will be conducted by Department Of Technical Education (DTE) in co-ordination with Karnataka Examination Authority, Bangalore(KEA) and National Informatics Centre(NIC). The admission process usually starts with the issue of the notification for admission by the Directorate in leading news papers of the State. The advertisement generally appears in and around the dates of announcement of Secondary School Leaving Certificate results conducted by the State Govt. It may be some time in the last week of April or First week of May or around that period. The announcement is also made on the websitehttp://dte.kar.nic.in and www.kea.kar.nic.in of the Directorate. The polytechnic websites will also carry the details of admission notification in their respective sites.
Admission Procedure
The prescribed Application Form along with the Information Brochure will be available in KEA & DTE websiteswww.kea.kar.nic.in & www.dte.kar.nic.inrespectively. Candidates shall download the Application Form and Brochure from the website and fill up the Application as per the instructions.Admission to diploma courses is based on merit in each category of reservation. Out of the total seats 50% of the seats are reserved for various groups of the society. Remaining 50% of the seats are allotted based on the marks scored in the SSLC for technical Courses. All the Details of admission to Diploma courses are available in the Admission Brochure.From 2017-18, Government has given permission to Department of Technical Education to follow "Online Interactive councelling " admission process.
Eiligibilty
- The candidate must be a citizen of India.
- For Technical(Engineering) Courses:should have passed Karnataka S.S.L.C or equivalent examination by securing 35% marks in aggregate.
- For Non-technical (Non-Engineering)Courses: a) Commercial Practice and Apparel Design & Fabrication Technology / Modern office Management Should have passed Karnataka S.S.L.C or Equivalent Examination by securing 35% marks in aggregate. b) Library Science and Information Management Should have passed Karnataka P.U.C-II or Equivalent examination by securing 35% marks in aggregate.
- For both Engineering & Non-Engineering, the candidate should have completed atleast five full academic years of study in Karnataka between 1st Standard and qualifying examination.
- Candidates who have passed the 10th Standard Exam conducted by CBSE/ICSE and other states 10th Standard candidates shall produce Eligibility Certificates obtained from the Secretary, Board of Technical Examinations, Palace Road, Bangalore – 560 001 at the time of document verificatioion & online application submission process.
Eligibility for admission to Evening Polytechnic.
In addition to the eligibility mentioned in Sl. No.01,02.04 and 05 above The candidate should have minimum three years of experience in respective Technical field after passing SSLC as on the 01-07-2017 and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) given by the employer must be produced at the time of admission to part-time diploma course in the prescribed format.
Lateral entry admission to 3rd semester diploma:
Candidates who have passed SSLC or Equivalent Examination with 35% of marks in aggregate and should have passed JTS (3 years course) / ITI (2 Years Course) recognised by Govt. of Karnataka are only eligible for seats reserved under JTS / ITI quota. Admission will beconsidered only for the candidates coming under JTS quota and ITI quota for Diploma First semester courses.
Fees
Fee structure for the diploma courses in Government & Aided polytechnics in the state is mentioned below as per the Government order No. ED 119 TPE 05 , dt: 18/10/2005. and G.O. No. ED 10 TPE 2012, Dated:29-05- 2012 and G.O. No. ED 64 TPE 2016, Dated:21-06-2016.
* In addition to the above fee the candidates have to pay Rs.40/- towards NSS (Polytechnics where NSS unit exists)
** In addition to the above fee the candidates have to pay Rs.50/- towards NSS (Polytechnics where NSS unit does not exist)
The candidates who have selected the seats of their choice through interactive counselling shall pay the admission fee as per prevailing Govt. Orders as under
* The Candidates have to pay 40/- towards NSS in institutes only where Additional Self-financed NSS unit is willing to establish when NSS unit exists.
** The Candidates have to pay 50/- towards NSS in institutes where Self-financed NSS unit is willing to establish when NSS unit doesnot exist.
***Atleast minimum one NSS unit must be existing in every Poytechnic.
